The Boys, Season 2
- 12 Oct 2020
- Amazon Prime's most popular show is still entertaining, but it's part of a supersaturated genre (no pun intended).
This past Friday was the official premiere of the Season 2 finale for The Boys. Like the prior four episodes, I watched it on the Thursday evening when it was actually available. This season has been eventful, and every episode has ended with a cliffhanger that is genuinely surprising. I’d say that Seasons 1 and 2 have the same level of quality, although the first couple of episodes of Season 1 are the pinnacle of the series.
The Boys is not that engaging to me, to be honest. I don’t care about any of the characters, partly because I have no history with them and partly because the acting is cringeworthy in general. The exception is Homelander; I actually root for this unhinged version of Superman. At this point, I feel more obligated than enticed to continue watching the series, and I’m sure that even the most ardent fans want it to wrap up in Season 3 or maybe Season 4.
