“The Wheel” (Carousel), eight years later

The climax of the Season One finale made me cry when I watched it the second time, in early 2009. I didn’t cry the first time, but I was moved enough to stick with the show; I had to watch the first two seasons twice, during the lull following Season Two, before I committed to Mad Men. Now the scene is sad to watch partly because the show is over and partly because it’s still the best scene.

I think the series peaked with Season Four and was probably most popular during Season Three. In any case, Don’s nostalgia-themed pitch will always be something admired.
